A Moose Lake woman appeared in Carlton County Court Monday for aiding and abetting a stabbing in late August.
Jessi Marie Lees, 27, pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted second-degree murder, three counts of assault, and one count of first-degree burglary.
She is charged with the same crimes as Cloquet resident Steven Ross Shotley, 20, who is accused of repeatedly stabbing a Moose Lake man after breaking into his apartment while he was sleeping.
According to the complaint, Shotley kicked in the door of John Erlitz and Andrea Boseovski’s apartment on Elm Street in Moose Lake on Aug. 21. Shotley then went into the bedroom and began stabbing Erlitz with a knife. Boseovski was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s home and call 911.
Shotley and Erlitz were later seen fighting outside the apartment before Shotley reportedly fled the scene in a car driven by Lees. Moose Lake Police arrested both of them shortly afterward on County Rd. 6 in Barnum.
Shotley pleaded not guilty to the crimes in mid-September and is set to appear in court again on Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. Lees’ next court appearance had not been scheduled as of Tuesday evening. In court Monday, Lees asked for a lower bail, but her request was denied. Both Shotley and Lees remain in Carlton County Jail.
