Jay Cooke Naturalist Programs
Jay Cooke State Park will host the following naturalist programs next weekend (all programs meet at the River Inn Visitor Center ): Friday, June 6, 8-9 p.m. “Bat-Opia or Bat-Phobia?” – Test your bat “fact or fiction” knowledge by exploring some of the myths and realities of these fascinating animals. Come away with a new appreciation for the value of bats after this slide presentation.

Friday, June 6, 8-9 p.m. “Bat-Opia or Bat-Phobia?” – Test your bat “fact or fiction” knowledge by exploring some of the myths and realities of these fascinating animals. Come away with a new appreciation for the value of bats after this slide presentation.
Saturday, June 7, 1-2 p.m. “Lady’s-Slipper Hike” – This hike across the St. Louis River will lead to a scenic hillside of yellow lady’s-slipper flowers. Along the way you’ll discover the plants and animals that make this park unique.
Saturday, June 7, 4-5 p.m. “Junior Naturalist: Life in a Forest” – The forest and the critters that live here are closely tied together. Children will discover these connections through fun activities as they learn about the animals, birds and bugs that make the park their home.
Saturday, June 7, 8-9 p.m. “Owls: The Mighty Mouse Hunters” – Discover these silent hunters of the night and learn how nature built a better mouse trap in the form of an owl.
Sunday, June 8, 7-8 a.m. “Birdsong Hike” – Join guest naturalist and author Larry Weber as he shares his tips on identifying birdsongs and birds. Hike and discover who’s making the chirps, twitters and trills you’ve been hearing. Great for beginning birders.
