Cloquet police officer promoted to detective

Cloquet Police Officer Adam Reed was unanimously promoted to the rank of detective at Tuesday's Cloquet City Council meeting.

Reed, who has been an officer in Cloquet for the past 3-1/2 years, did well in recent related testing, said Police Chief Wade Lamirande.

In addition, Reed heads up the Cloquet Police chapter of the Explorers Program, for young people interested in police work.

"This is an exciting point in my career," Reed told city council members. "I'm here to get to started."

Reed replaces former detective Jeff Palmer, who elected to return to an officer position, according to Terry Hill, Cloquet deputy chief.
