(Duluth)—As a result of telephone cable issues in the Lincoln Park area, the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) has been without telephone service for the past 24 hours. The telephone service providers are working to correct the issues, but expect the service outage to last from one to three more days.

The telephone carrier began experiencing issues with its cable providing service to its customers in the Lincoln Park area on Tuesday, March 11.

WLSSD has set up cellular telephones to remain accessible in the interim and the telephone provider is forwarding WLSSD’s general line 218-722-3336 to the cellular phone.

All direct dial numbers to WLSSD and the WLSSD hotline will not be operational during the outage.

The WLSSD receptionist can be reached at WLSSD 218-722-3336, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Wastewater emergency telephone calls should be directed to WLSSD’s Operations Center at 218-348-4956.

Residents and other callers are asked for their patience during this restricted functionality of telephone service. Most information about WLSSD hours, facilities and services can be accessed on WLSSD’s Web site at www.wlssd.com.

Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides award-winning wastewater and solid waste services to residents, businesses and industries within its 500 square mile legislative boundaries in Southern St. Louis and northern Carlton counties, and is a nationally recognized leader in pollution prevention.
