February 25
At 12:41 a.m. a caller reported a car in the ditch on Highway 210, west of Cromwell, and an elderly female was complaining of leg pain. She was transported to Mercy Hospital.
Deputies assisted Minnesota State Patrol with a jack-knifed semi on I-35 at 5:30 a.m.
A one-vehicle accident was reported at I-35 and Highway 33.
Deputies were requested to deliver a death notification message to a couple whose son passed away in Wisconsin.
February 26
Wrenshall High School reported a drug offense. The K-9 Unit was utilized.
A complainant on Dalles Avenue reported the Thomson snow plows completely fill in the driveway of his disabled brother. They have tried talking with the mayor and city officers about it.
At 2:29 p.m. a complainant reported a snowmobile hit a gas pump at the Wirtz 66 station and did some damage.
Timothy Scott Young, 24, was arrested on a Carlton County misdemeanor warrant.
Several callers reported a one-vehicle rollover around 4:49 p.m. on northbound I-35 near Esko. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle was leaking fuel.
Several callers reported a rollover in the median on I-35 south of Barnum. Mercy Ambulance responded.
February 27
A complainant reported a dog on Erickson Road was caught in a trap next to his residence. The dog had ID tags, so the Esko dog catcher was notified.
At 10:43 p.m. a complainant reported a dog was hit in the road at County roads 1 and 18. The black shepherd mix, approximately five months old, was moved to the side of the road. The owner could not be located.
A burglary was reported on Walczak Road at 12:11 p.m. A c-cabin was broken into sometime between November and mid-February. Missing were: tarps, food, blankets, and two one-pound propane tanks. Extra patrol was requested.
Barnum High School reported a juvenile female with a tobacco violation.
February 28
Michael Andrew Ziegler, 18, was arrested on a felony warrant.
A juvenile female was transported from Esko High School to the shelter under CHIPs.
Justin Ryan Rivera, 20, was arrested at the Carlton County Courthouse on St. Louis County warrants.
March 1
Several citations were issued and cars were towed for violations of the snow ordinance.
Deputies assisted the Minnesota State Patrol with multiple vehicles off the roadway (I-35) near Esko.
A juvenile was picked up on CHIPS on County Road 4 and brought to the shelter, lodged for child abandonment.
A motor vehicle accident was reported at 4:42 p.m. at Cologne Road and Highway 210. Damage was incurred on the right front and driver side and front bumper.
March 2
A complainant called from the Junction Oasis to report her vehicle went in the ditch, she has no money for a tow, her daughter has asthma, and she’s stranded. Arrangements were made for support through the Salvation Army.
Deputies received a sex offender notification.
March 3
Deputies assisted Black Bear Casino security with a drug arrest.
At 10:46 a.m. a complainant reported a male was following her and trying to get her to stop, threatening to run her off the road. Deputies responded and arrested Bradley Duane Christiansen, 21, on Highway 45 near the Carlton Little Store for driving after revocation.

March 4:
At 7:24 a.m. a complainant reported vandalism to the front of his garage on Second Street. Someone spray painted letters in black paint.
Black Bear Casino security reported a couple attempted to cash a fraudulent payroll check. Deputies located the vehicle in which the couple left and arrested Shane Martin Kristianson, 29, for fifth degree controlled substance, possession of stolen property and gross misdemeanor false name/date of birth. Katherine Olga Bahmet, 39, was arrested for fifth degree controlled substance, possession of stolen property, and forgery.
A physical domestic was reported on County Road 18 at 8:57 a.m. The female complainant reported her husband has her blocked in the driveway and won’t allow her to leave. Deputies responded and arrested Michael Timothy Humphrey, 43, for fifth degree domestic assault and child endangerment.
March 6
Jesse Ryan Fett, 24, was arrested on Oak Drive on a warrant.
Deputies responded to a physical domestic reported at 9:15 p.m. on Goad Drive. The parties were separated for the night, with neither party wanting anything done.
March 7
William John Dionne, 43, was arrested on a Carlton County warrant.
March 9
David Nestor Jokimaki, 37, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. on I-35 for second degree DWI. His vehicle was towed.
A traffic stop on I-35 northbound at 1:47 a.m. resulted in the arrest of Joey James Hagadorn, 38, for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety. His vehicle was towed.
Following the report of a physical domestic on Chestnut Avenue at 3:22 a.m., deputies arrested Walter Earl Rish, 44, for violation of an Order for Protection and interfering with a 911 call.
A 16-year-old male was cited at Barnum High School at 2:38 p.m. for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of tobacco.
The following are some of the 162 Initial Complaint Reports the Carlton County Sheriff’s Department received March 11-17, 2007:
March 11
Scott Jon Jaenisch, 42, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. at Highway 210 and I-35 for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety.
Deputies received a 911 hangup and upon return of the call, a male claimed there was a drug overdose and a male left the residence. Drug paraphernalia and weapons were collected. No further information was available.
A two-vehicle accident was reported at 10:37 a.m. on Dallas Avenue.
March 12
An accident was reported on Highway 210 at 11:43 a.m. Minnesota State Patrol was handling the matter. A 38-year-old individual was transported to the law enforcement center on a Pine County warrant.
March 13
An abandoned vehicle was reported on northbound I-35 at the Esko exit. The vehicle was towed.
At 2:15 p.m. a complainant reported finding two dogs dead in the ditch at Koski and Stark roads.
A traffic stop was conducted at 10:50 p.m. at I-35 and Highway 210. Following a canine search of the vehicle in which the dog alerted, two people were detained and their vehicle was towed. Alisha Marjorie Ann Koerber, 20, was cited for fifth degree possession of controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cody Lee Elven, 23, was cited for fifth degree possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of hypodermic needle.
March 14
Two reports of vandalism to mail boxes were received on Swede Lake Road. The Cromwell postmaster also called to report several mail boxes had been damaged not only on Swede Lake Road but also on Nyberg and Middle roads.
A complainant from the Barnum Bus Garage reported a bus was vandalized over the weekend.
A complainant on Middle Road reported his mail box was completed taken down during the day. Though he didn’t notice it until he got home from work, he did remember hearing a loud noise around 5 a.m. and thought it might have happened then.
A complainant reported a male individual whom she has an order for protection against has been calling her at work. Officers called him at home and advised him not to call her anymore. He was very uncooperative. Keith Peterson, 47, of Cromwell was arrested on violation of an order for protection and brought to the law enforcement center.
March 16
Timothy Michael Gottschalk, 35, was arrested at 12:25 p.m. on a warrant.
March 17
Vandalism to a mail box was reported on Central Avenue.
A vehicle-deer accident was reported on North Road east of Canosia Road.
Numerous calls were received of a possible drunk driver on Highway 210. Minnesota State Patrol handled the call.
