Cloquet native Jollymore to present debut novel
Cloquet native Tim Jollymore will return to Cloquet on a spring book tour of the Arrowhead region. He will give a presentation on his recent novel, "Listener in the Snow," at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, at the Cloquet Public Library.
"Listener in the Snow" follows the journey of Tatty Langille from Florida to the Minnesota Northwoods in pursuit of his estranged Ojibwe wife. Along the way, he encounters a deadly snowstorm and surreal figures who seem to spring from Native American and Scandinavian mythologies.
Jollymore will discuss the Native American and Nordic cultural contexts of northern Minnesota. His presentation will also address the craft of fiction writing.
Jollymore earned his English degree at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In addition to college teaching, he has worked as a tree planter, salesman, and local historian. He lives in Oakland, Calif.
Jollymore's appearance was coordinated through Cloquet Public Library and is sponsored the Arrowhead Library System, with funding provided by Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
