The 2016 Hot Summer Nights Concert series kicks off its 18th season starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at the college’s outdoor-indoor amphitheater with Vicky Emerson and Sarah Morris, described as “two powerhouses of Americana music.”

According to concert promoters, Emerson’s music has always been steeped in blues, folk and traditional country, blended in her Americana trademark sound, while Sarah Morris captivates audiences with songs about the highs and lows of love in a sound she says “is a little twang and a lot of heart.”

The popular free performances are open to the public and will be held from 7-9 p.m. every Thursday evening for four weeks, concluding July 28. All concerts will be held rain or shine.

In addition, on Monday, July 11, the college will host the only summer concert by the Cloquet Community Band starting at 7 p.m.

Each entertaining evening of music is designed for family fun and for people of all ages. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, or seat cushions to sit on. Big Daddy Chicken food truck will have tasty food items available for purchase.
