Shares can be purchased at the store for $10 any time before or at the meeting. There are four openings for board members.

Did you know that Aug. 12 is also the date set for the Primary Election? Many folks have already gotten their ballots in the mail, but others will have to go to their polling place to vote.

Congratulations to Johanna Johnson, daughter of Marnie Johnson, granddaughter of David and Michelle Hedin and great-granddaughter of Gladys Clark, who won the AAU Region 14 discus competition (Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and half of Kansas) for the 14-year-old girls division. She will compete in the National Championships on July 31 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Congratulations to Sharon M. Lake, daughter of Leo Dahlberg and the late Marie Dahlberg, for being elected director of District 6 of the Minnesota Bankers Association (MBA). Sharon is presently the president of Grand Timber Bank in McGregor. This is a three-year term that started in June 2014.

Several area folks celebrated “National Hot Dog Day” on Wednesday, July 23, at the home of Jennie and Bob Hanson. Those attending were Sharon and Robin Lake, Ray and Lindsay Lally, Mary Oja, Shirley Goodin, Shirley Krauss, and Bob and me. We celebrated by dressing up in funny clothing, wigs, etc., and of course roasting hot dogs over an open fire. We also had lots of hot dog knickknacks and memorabilia to decorate the tables, etc. The evening was just beautiful and sitting around the campfire until long after sunset was a real joy. We have been celebrating Hot Dog Day for the past four or five years and it’s a long story that I may share with you at a later date. But, suffice it to say, it’s a great story and means a lot to Robin and Me.

That’s all the news from Lake Havemorefunthissummer and hello to all our area vacationers.
