With only a few days until Christmas, most of us are looking forward to the holidays and all that comes with them. There are many programs and activities to take part in, and I'm sure this will enhance your Christmas season. So, from my family to yours, I'm wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. May this year be a real blessing to all!

Villa/Cardinal Court held their annual Christmas Family Night on Dec. 8. There were over 150 folks in attendance including the residents and staff. This is the 39th year the Villa has been in operation. A special thanks was given to Cherie Nyberg as she will retire at the end of January. She will be missed, but I'm sure she won't be able to stay away for long. It's hard to leave completely when she has so many friends at this facility. We wish her only the best in the future and a huge thanks for all her years of service to our community.

Congratulations to former Cromwell-Wright High School graduate Aaron Jordan, who is now a doctor and practicing medicine in the Riverwood Healthcare Center in McGregor. Dr. Jordan, along with his wife, Sabrina (Smith), and their two children, Braham, 3, and Brinn, will live west of Wright. We welcome them back to the community.

Jacob Anderson, son of Jana and Jesse, celebrated his first communion on Sunday, Dec. 1, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright.

It was really neat to see former Cromwell resident Barb Benson on the front page of the Duluth News Tribune, Dec. 4 edition. It wasn't neat to see the reason, though. The Annual Christmas Lutefisk Dinner held at First Lutheran in Duluth had to be cancelled due to the recent snowstorm. This event usually takes in at least $10,000 so this is a big loss for the missions that this fund supports.

Cromwell-Wright Dollars for Scholars will better serve students and community with the official launch of a new website through a new software tool provided by Scholarship America, Dollars for Scholars' parent organization. This new website will allow Cromwell-Wright Dollars for Scholars to help students in the community access more scholarships. Through the website, students will have the ability to create an online profile, which allows them to apply for and be matched to multiple scholarships on both the local and national levels in just a couple of clicks. See the counselors' home page for the link.
