I come to you this week with the passing of a former area lady. Phyllis (Johnson) Parviainen, Class of 1954 at Cromwell High School, passed away on Nov.1, 2013 in Blaine, Minn. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley. In lieu of flowers, memorials are

The Lakeside Community Club Mojakka Supper will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, from 4:30-7 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and under. The Lakeside Community Club is located two miles south of Highway 210 on South Finn Road (County Road 22), Wright. Supplemental funds have been applied for from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chapter Number 31299.

The Round Lake Presbyterian Church will hold their Hunter's Supper on Saturday, Nov.16, serving from 5-8 p.m. There will also be a bake sale. 

The Bethlehem Breakfast Brunch and Bazaar will be held on Dec.14 at Bethlehem Lutheran in Wright from 10 a.m. to noon. If you have items to donate please feel free to bring them to the church on Friday, Dec.13. They would like to have new, or gently used, homemade-type things, Christmas decorations, gift items, knickknacks, etc. (no rummage sale items), along with baked goods, etc. There will also be some silent auction items.

The Cromwell Quilters are having an open sew day on Saturday, Nov.16, at the Sno-Gopher Building from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Bring your sewing machine, extension cord and projects. This is open to everyone but please notify Dawn Lippo at 218-644-3638 by noon on Nov. 15 if you plan to attend. We have fun and it's a good time to get those Christmas projects on their way with no interruptions. No charge and there will be free coffee!

High school yearbooks are now on sale, $50 per book. If you buy on or before Dec. 20, you will be guaranteed a yearbook and you will get free personalization (you or your child's name on the front cover in red foil print). If you wait until after Dec. 20, your order will be subject to limited availability (not guaranteed). Families buying for members within the immediate family pay $10 less per book. Some of you will be able to pay online with a credit or debit card. Congratulations to the Cromwell-Wright Knowledge Bowl Team No. 3 for placing 11th out of 49 teams. They will move on to the tournament on Nov. 19! Thanks to all of the teams for your hard work all season!

Cromwell-Wright School District is in need of substitute bus drivers. Study materials for the written test are available at the school office. Training is available after passing your written test. Morning and afternoon trip pay is $35.32 per trip ranging up to two hours per trip. For more information, contact the superintendent at 218-644-3737 ext. 1005.
