Twenty-minute play festival coming to Cloquet
FAST*Fest is a theater lover’s dream come true. Twelve hours of theater. And it’s coming to Cloquet.
FAST*Fest is a 20-minute play festival, put together by the Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT), and it’s happening at the Encore Performing Arts Center, the home of the County Seat Theater Company, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.
There will be at least 13 community theater groups participating, from the Twin Cities area, Rochester, Staples, Lakeville, Montgomery and Cloquet, of course, with works by Shakespeare, Neil Simon, David Mamet, David Ives and more. Every production is limited to a minimal set, with only five minutes to set up, 20 minutes to perform, and five minutes to tear down.
Since 2006, the Minnesota community theater scene has gathered every two years to mount new, original and experimental work at FAST*Fest, and this year will be one of the biggest ever.
Tickets are available online at www.mact.net. Register before Saturday, Aug. 9, and the price for three performance sessions and an afterglow party at Carmen’s is $25, or $35 after Aug. 9.
For information on the event and to purchase tickets to some or all of the performances, call the County Seat Theater Company at 218-878-0071 or check out the MACT website at www.mact.net/?page=MACT-Events/Fast-Fest-2014-93.
