Taylor Smaller scored 22 points and Kemp McCray added a double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds) as Vermilion downed Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College 88-70 in a Minnesota College Athletic Conference game Saturday in Ely.

Carlos Holcey led the Thunder (0-12 overall, 0-2 MCAC) with 20 points and Bryce Karppinen added 17.

  • The Thunder women's team fell 63-45 to Vermilion to fall to 0-11 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Kasie Gokee led Fond du Lac with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sammy Johnson added 14 points. Vermilion was led by Haley Larson and Tinesha Taylor, who each scored 15 points. Taylor grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
