To the Editor:

The Pinewood Special Olympic and Athletic Program would like to thank the Cloquet and Duluth area volunteers who made the Area 3 Athletics Competition on May 17 so successful. The groups and individuals who volunteered their time and energy made it a day that everyone enjoyed and will remember for a long time. Thank you to the fans who came together to cheer on all of the competitors, regardless of team or affiliation. We should all feel proud to have such a great legacy of competition, sportsmanship and cooperation which makes events such as this possible.

As always, a huge thank you to the area's Kiwanis Clubs for their sponsorship of this competition. Their presence, commitment and dedication to Special Olympics has, over the years, made the annual Area 3 Track and Field Competition a major event in the lives of our athletes, their families and their friends.
