A stroll down memory lane
To the Editor:
I just wanted to make a couple of corrections to the story about Sherman Turcotte [published in the March 27 issue of the Pine Journal].
I believe the two youngsters in the photo identified as Peterson are actually Pedersons, whose grandfather and father were plumbers in the Cloquet area for many years and had the plumbing shop referred to in the story on the site of The Warming House. If they’re who I think they are, they still possibly live in Cloquet, though I’m not certain about that. Their sister Kelly Johnson lives in town too, I think, and serves on the hospital board.
Also, the photograph is taken on 14th Street facing north next to the Cloquet Labor Temple, not the West End as the story implies. I recognize Berg Jewelry in the photo, which had a storefront in the Labor Temple during those years. Other than that, I found no other inaccuracies as far as my memory goes and I did enjoy the story and photo. Thanks.
