RUNNING MAN: Color Run to paint Pine Valley
What do you get when you mix a 5K run with a pallet of paint? You guessed it, the Color Run is coming to Cloquet! The Cloquet Rotary Club’s Junior Rotarians are hosting this premier event on Saturday, July 19, at Pine Valley.
In case you’re wondering what exactly a Color Run is, imagine running through a rainbow of glittering powder that clings to your body and splashes you with an array of color. Now imagine a hundred others running along with you, laughing and cheering as they finish, looking like a mass of Jackson Pollock creations.
The Cloquet Color Run was proposed by Junior Rotarian Aliya Hamann, who had to research the idea and present it to the Rotary Board. This is the first time that any Junior Rotarian has proposed another fundraising idea and organized it.
“The Junior Rotarians from Cloquet, Esko and Carlton have been working on this for over six months,” said Hamann. “It will really help raise money for scholarships in the community.”
The run will not only bring color and fun to the area, but will also raise money for the Henry Walter Scholarship Fund for the Carlton, Cloquet and Esko Junior Rotarian program.
Junior Rotarians are specially-selected high school seniors who meet each week with the Rotary Club and help volunteer during Rotary events.
Check in begins at 8:15 a.m. at Pine Valley, and the race starts at 9 a.m. The race entry fee is $20 if participants register online at www.CloquetColorRun.com, or $25 if they sign up at the gate. Along with entrance to the run, participants also receive a T-shirt and their own color packet to use at the end of the race.
If you want to fill your summer with fun and color, join the Cloquet Color Run! It’s a sure way to enjoy the sun and paint new memories.
