Rodney Dale Masterson, 73, of Esko, Minn., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet, Minn. Rodney was born to Kenneth and Isabel on May 18, 1940, in Wilton, Minn. Rodney grew up in Bemidji, Minn., and attended high school there. He was married to Carlyn Zastrow on July 20, 1963, in Bemidji. Rodney worked as a garbage helper for the city and in 1968 they moved to Esko where Carlyn finished her schooling to be a CNA. Rodney enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a family man and especially liked spending time with his family.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Isabel; sister, Marilyn Olson; baby sister, Nancy; and brother, Dwight Masterson.

He is survived by his wife, Carlyn; son, Jim (Amie) Masterson of Alexandria, Minn.; daughter, Susan (George) Oliver of Carrollton, Texas; sister, Connie Dam of Burnsville, Minn.; and grandchildren, Iver Masterson and George William Oliver IV.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 31, from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. A luncheon will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.
