Norman proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years at Northwest Paper/Potlatch Corporation and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Dad was an honest man who valued his friends. He was tough but a tender father who taught his kids to be honest and above all else, be true to yourself - teaching his daughter and son how to swim at Twin Lakes. He instilled his hunting and fishing skills and love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel; infant daughter, Carol; and brothers.

He is survived by his daughter, Norma (Dale) Lennartson and their children Diane and Eric (Kay Allen), all of Esko; son, Brian (Ann) Haugen of Moose Lake, Minn., and their children Leah (Matthew Zook) of St. Cloud, Minn., and Derek (Greta Schuler) of Maplewood, Minn.; sister, Patsy Solem; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and numerous family members.

A family service will be held in the spring. See the online guest book at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net.
