Funding is provided by area businesses, industries, service organizations and individuals. The dinner is available at no cost to all area residents. It is a time for “wonderful” foods and sharing Christmas fellowship.

Meals are also delivered — call the church at 218-879-4647.

Volunteers for preparation, serving and delivery may also call the church.

Santa will be stopping by, there will be live music provided, as well as sleigh rides (with horses) and prize drawings.

Bentleyville open through Jan. 4

The organizers at the Bentleyville Tour of Lights on Duluth’s harbor have given the Northland an early Christmas present by deciding to stay open a week longer than scheduled.

The closing fireworks planned for Dec. 28 will now go off Jan. 4.

The extra week is a response to visitors asking that the lights stay on through New Year’s Day and into the weekend. Bentleyville has had to close a few days this month during a heavy snowstorm and extreme cold.

Santa’s last day at Bayfront Festival Park is Monday.

Bentleyville remains a place to drop off gifts for donation through the Salvation Army.

Pine Valley Tubing Hill opens Saturday

The Pine Valley Tubing Hill will open Saturday, Dec. 21 (weather permitting). The facility, located in Pine Valley Park on Armory Road (drive to the hockey arena and keep going) in Cloquet, will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as the following special days:

+ Winter Break — Dec 23 and Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 (closed Dec. 24-25)

+ No school days — Jan.17, Jan. 20, and Feb. 17

Cost is $5 per day, per person. The tubing hill will be closed when the temperature is 0 degrees Fahrenheit or colder. Call the Chalet at 218-879-8682 if in doubt about closing due to the temperature.

Tubes are provided for snow tubing, and a separate hill is available for snowboards only. Use the tow rope to ride up to the top of the hill.

Children 6 years and under must be accompanied by an adult, and there is certified staff on site for your safe enjoyment.

Concessions are available in the chalet.
