Whether you won at the ring toss game and took home a bottle of wine from Hidden View Winery, whether you scored the winning bid on a hot auction item, whether you snagged the six-inch cheesecake in the dessert auction or whether you lost your heart to that little brown-eyed shelter dog, last Friday's 10th Annual Beastie Bash no doubt exceeded your expectations -- and then some.
This year's "Bash," held at Black Bear Casino Resort's Otter Creek Event Center, was one of the most successful of all time. The event netted some $14,000 for the Friends of Animals Shelter in Cloquet and attracted some 238 attendees.
The evening's festivities included a full turkey dinner, entertainment by local pianist Tom Cawcutt, a pet talent contest and a dog agility demonstration.
Special guests of honor were Margaret Mell and Diane Parkhurst
(pictured bottom left), who served on the FOA's original board of directors when the organization was first formed 30 years ago, and of course the stars of the show -- three of the shelter dogs themselves.
