More volunteers would make Fourth a bang-up event
To the Editor:
The Fourth of July is not far away and I am happy to let you know that plans for the Cloquet Fourth of July Fest are well underway. We have great support from the city of Cloquet and a larger volunteer organizing committee this year. We are all excited about this hometown celebration of our country’s birthday!
While everything is coming together for the planning of the events, we still need volunteers who are willing to donate a couple of hours each, the day of the Fourth and/or the morning after. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of what our country is all about, a celebration of freedom and community.
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, service groups, church groups, families, and individuals, everyone, we need your participation to make the Cloquet Fourth of July Fest a success and a day that will be remembered by young and the young at heart for years to come.
The areas we need help with are five to 10 volunteers to help set up Veterans Park from 9-11 a.m. on the Fourth; six to 12 volunteers to monitor children on the Bouncy Castles (in two-hour shifts) from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and one or two volunteers per two-hour shift to help with face painting and applying temporary tattoos (could this be more fun?) between noon and 4 p.m. As well, we need volunteers to take shifts to pick up trash and monitor the trash barrels on the Fourth. We also need volunteers to help with clean up the day after.
It takes about 50 volunteers to make the Cloquet Fourth of July festivities a success. We have a great start. Won’t you join us in making it a wonderful Fourth of July 2014 in Cloquet?
To volunteer, please call Barb Wyman (City Engineering 218-879-6758).
Thank you and see you on the Fourth of July!
