Moose Lake-Willow River player finalist for Mr. Football award
Ezra Szczyrbak of Moose Lake-Willow River has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2013 Mr. Football Award, it was announced by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) Wednesday.
The Mr. Football Award is sponsored by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) and the Minnesota Vikings.
The Mr. Football Award was first presented in 2004, with the first winner being Nick Mertens of East Grand Forks High School. The 2012 Mr. Football Award winner was Bridgeport Tusler of Osseo High School.
The 2013 Mr. Football Award will be presented at the Mr. Football Banquet on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Doubletree Hotel in St. Louis Park, Minn.
The 10 finalists for the 2013 Mr. Football Award (in alphabetical order) are Tory Adams of Hutchinson, Matt Christenson of Nicollet, Ejodamen Ejiya of Spring Lake Park, Jeffrey Jones of Minneapolis Washburn, Robert Olson of Eden Prairie, Jacques Perra of Roseville, Andrew Stelter of Owatonna, Michael Strand of Barnesville, Ezra Szczyrbak of Moose Lake-Willow River and Blake Weber of Prior Lake.
To be considered for the Mr. Football Award, the nominee must be a graduating senior and must not have any Minnesota State High School League violations, the head coach must be a current member of the MFCA, and each player must be nominated by their conference/MFCA representative.
