A Brevator Township man was sentenced May 12 on a felony charge of knowingly possessing child pornography.

Bruce Robert Hosking, 64, a former St. Louis County employee, appeared before Judge Dale Harris in State District Court in Duluth, having pled guilty to possessing pictorial representation of minors in March.

The judge stayed a 15-month prison sentence for five years of supervised probation.

Among the conditions of the probation, Hosking must register as a predatory offender, not have unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 18, not possess any pornographic material or have unapproved access to the Internet. He is subject to random searches and polygraph testing.

Hosking’s work computer was seized and discovered to have five images of child pornography on it in June 2013. A fellow employee had reported him to human resources after seeing Hosking looking at the images. Hosking later admitted to investigators that what he was doing was “wrong.” Further evidence was found during a search of his home. He’d been hired by the county in 1977 and worked at the Richard H. Hansen Public Works Building at 4787 Midway Road. Hosking has not worked for St. Louis County since June 2013. Hosking will undergo a

psychological-sexual evaluation and also be required to follow any recommendations of the evaluation as a stipulation of his probation.

He was fined $500.
