According to Jill Hatfield, executive director of Volunteer Services of Carlton County, there are plenty of opportunities for folks who are inspired to volunteer.
Here are just a couple options to consider:
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help with bell ringing outside the Walmart store. Call Jackie or Jason at 218-879-1693 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday as soon as possible to sign up for two-hour intervals. As well, call Jackie to volunteer at the Salvation Army's Toy Set Up and Giveaway Dec. 12-13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
Individuals and families willing to commit to a longer term volunteer relationship are invited to "adopt a senior" through Volunteer Services. Many seniors want to stay in their homes, but need a helping hand with shoveling the walks, mowing the lawn and more. Many enjoy family dinners with their adopted families as well.
Want to get involved? Call Volunteer Services at 218-879-9238 to find out more.
