LeRoy W. 'Peanuts' Holmberg

LeRoy W. "Peanuts" Holmberg, 89, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Cloquet, Minn., died Sunday, March 2, 2014. Peanuts, as he was known to his family and all friends, was born in Lawler, Minn., on June 28, 1924. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. While in the service, he married Helen Peters who preceded him in death in 1985. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Ann Skagerberg, in 1996, great-grandson, Tyler Skagerberg, in 2008, and his sister Margaret Van Bergen in 2011.

Peanuts owned and operated "Peanuts Service" in Cloquet for many years. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Dallas Masonic Lodge #181, York Rite, and the Aad Temple of the Shrine, VFW, and American Legion. He also loved polka dancing, bowling, fishing, and even trying his hand at golf.

Survivors include daughters, Marlys (David) Jarvi and Georgene (Richard) Butrym, both of Boca Raton; son-in-law, Rodney Skagerberg of Cloquet; grandchildren, Paul and Lynn Jarvi, Angie (Michael) Carlson, Ryan, Brent and Brandon Butrym, Terry (Misty) Skagerberg and Jason (Jamie) Skagerberg; great-grandchildren, Ellie Carlson, Austin, Taylor-Rose, Amarissa, and Travis Skagerberg. He is also survived by long-time friend, Audrey Boss, who he referred to as the "neighbor lady."

Visitation: Sunday, March 9, from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service at Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Interment with military honors will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.
