A legacy continued at the University of Minnesota-Crookston (UMC) with the hosting of the 37th annual Ag Arama event Jan. 27-28. Catlin Kersting of Cloquet, daughter of Elizabeth Kersting-Peterson, Ross Peterson, and Kevin Kersting, was nominated for Ag Arama Royalty. Kersting is a sophomore majoring in horticulture and minoring in agronomy at UMC.
Kersting said she has always had an interest in plants. Since she was young, she has had an interest in flowers. Kersting showed Dairy Showmanship at Ag Arama.
Contests in agronomy, animal science, horticulture and natural resources highlight Ag Arama weekend. They serve as an opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge and skills and have a chance to interact with alumni and faculty members. Ag Arama is planned and operated by a committee of students advised by Terrill Bradford and Brenda Miller, who both teach in the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department.
