Historical Society to celebrate Lorren Lindevig Day
CCHS celebrates 'Lorren Lindevig Day'
The Carlton County Historical Society will celebrate Lorren Lindevig Day at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, at its museum in Cloquet.
Lindevig is well known in Carlton County and beyond as an accordionist who has given so much of his time and talents to the community. In addition to enriching people's lives with music, Lindevig has volunteered for numerous community organizations, including the Carlton County Historical Society (CCHS). He served on the board of directors of the CCHS Foundation for many years, and was president of the board for the last eight years.
He also served on the board of directors of the Harrington Arts Center, an accordion museum and teaching institution in Superior, Wis. As a tribute to Lindevig, the Harrington Arts Center accordion students will perform a concert in his honor for the Lorren Lindevig Day event.
Cloquet Mayor Bruce Ahlgren has declared the Fourth of July as Lorren Lindevig Day and will present a proclamation to Lindevig at the event at the CCHS museum.
Refreshments will be served and visitors will have a chance to view the museum's new exhibit called "Barns of Carlton County." Regular museum admission is $1 with CCHS members and children under 12 admitted free. The CCHS museum is handicapped accessible.
