Blood Drives

Memorial Blood Centers invites eligible members of the community give the gift of life by donating at either of the following blood drives: Thursday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cromwell-Wright School, or Wednesday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wrenshall High School.

Celebrate Recovery

This Christ-centered recovery group, for all hurts, habits or hang-ups, meets at 6 p.m. every Thursday at the River of Life Church, Cloquet. For more information, call Pastor John at 218-879-3461 or Starr Marshall at 218-851-5815.

Christians In Recovery

This support group based on the non-denominational study of the 12 steps of recovery meets every Sunday from 7-8 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, Cloquet. Call Twyla at 218-428-1115 with questions.

Community Grief Support Group

This group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 7-8:30 p.m. at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. Call Peggy Maki at 218-879-4976 for more information.

Family Caregiver Support Group

This group meets on the first Thursday of the month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse of Cloquet, off North Road. Call Char at 218-522-0056 to reserve your place. Meetings are free and light refreshments are provided.

Gambling Intervention Services

Is gambling becoming a problem? Help is available. Join a group of your peers, with no judgement, no pressure and no guilt. Totally anonymous. Call 218-722-2273 or 218-273-0015 for meeting times and places in your area. Don’t be afraid to take the first step. Support is out there!

Health Insurance Counseling

Answers and education regarding health insurance for Medicare beneficiaries and pre-retirees will be provided by the Senior LinkAge Line through the ARDC’s Area Agency on Aging at Volunteer Services of Carlton County, 199 Chestnut Ave., Ste. 3, Carlton. Memory Loss Support Groups

This group offers a time of education and peer support for family caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s. Groups meet every third Thursday of the month from 10-11:30 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake (call Gerene at 310-6807), or from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Cloquet Public Library (call Candi at 218-348-5668).

Narcotics Anonymous

Two groups are available: The Sunday group meets every Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Alano Club, Cloquet. The Candlelight group meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Call 877-767-7676 for more information, or visit www.naminnesota.org.

Overeater’s Anonymous

Two groups are available: One group meets every Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Al-Anon building in Cloquet; call Bonnie at 218-879-5712 for questions. Another group meets from 9-10 a.m. Saturdays at Zion Lutheran Church in Cloquet (downstairs); call Jennifer at 218-451-0668. There are no dues, fees or weigh-ins.

Pain Support Group

This group, for those coping with acute or chronic pain, meets on the second and fourth Sunday of the month from 3-4:30 p.m. in the East Room of the Moose Lake Evangelical Covenant Church. Contact Jackie Dahl at 218-341-6787 for more information.

Parkinson’s Support Group

Peer Support Group

This support group for people coping with mental health issues meets every Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Outreach Center in Cloquet. This group is presented by peers for peers. For questions, call Jean Miller at 218-269-0502.

UsTOO Prostate Support Network

The Lake Superior Chapter meets at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of every month at Community Memorial Hospital, Cloquet (Birch Room, ground floor). For more information, call Phil Maunu at 218-428-2509 or Mike Sullivan at 218-384-3448.

Weight Loss Support Group

This group meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Cloquet Public Library. Talk about the successes of weight loss, as well as the problems and disappointments of weight loss.

Women’s Arthritis Support Group

The next meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Essentia Health in Duluth. Guest speaker is Esther Gieschen from the University of Wisconsin, speaking on “Adaptive Gardening for People with Mobility Problems.” For questions, call Betty Rowe at 218-624-4422.
