Grace S. Ketchum

Grace S. Ketchum, 91, of Esko, Minn., died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2013, in Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell, Minn. She was born Oct. 17,1922, in Kerrick, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Southerton. Grace married Ray Ketchum on April, 23, 1944, in Bruno, Minn. After the war Grace and Ray lived in Pine City, Cloquet, and then bought a farm in Esko where they raised three daughters. Grace worked at Washington and Winterquist elementary schools as a cook for many years. She was a long time member of J.M. Paine Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; daughters, Linda Merchen and Collette Reynolds; brothers, Frank and Jackie Southerton; and sister, Zola (Larry) Farness.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Walt) Collman of Cromwell; sister, Louise (Dwain) Thomsen of Marble Falls, Texas; three grandchildren, T.R. Merchen, Jon Merchen, and Bobby Reynolds; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the fireside room of the funeral home.
