Fond du Lac finishes fourth
Like only Trevontae Brown and the Fond du Lac Ojibwe boys basketball team know how to do, they finished their season Saturday morning running and gunning.
Brown tied a Minnesota State High School League State record when the senior made 10 3-pointers for all of his 30 points, but it wasn’t nearly enough in the Ogichidaa’s 103-87 Class A state boys basketball third-place game loss to Maranatha Christian Academy today at the Gangelhoff Center at Concordia University-St. Paul.
Brown, a 6-foot guard, was a ridiculous 10-of-16 from beyond the arc, as No. 5 FDL (24-5) led early, but trailed 57-48 at halftime and couldn’t keep pace with the third-seeded Mustangs (27-4) in a shooters-paradise game.
Brown’s point total wasn’t even the day’s highest output, as Mustang Josh Goldschmidt led four players in double figures with 45, as Davonte Williamson — an all-tournament team pick with Brown — scored 17, along with Jordan Diver in FDL’s best-ever finish in school history.
