Bentleyville still needs volunteers

It takes an army to put together one of the largest Christmas light displays in the country.

No preregistration is necessary, just head down to Bayfront Park from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays between now and Nov. 13, or go to the park from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday nights through Nov. 9.

Questions? Call Kristi Stokes of the Greater Downtown Council at (218) 727-8549.

Drills coming

People in Northeastern Minnesota can expect to see government vehicles being escorted by the Minnesota State Patrol to various cities during an emergency preparedness drill Thursday.

The purpose of the exercise is to test plans for the rapid distribution of critical resources during an emergency. The drill will involve emergency preparedness partners within the region, including local public health and tribal health agencies, county emergency management, health-care facilities, the State Patrol and the 148th Fighter Wing.
