David Frederick Dresser

David Frederick Dresser, 61, of Carlton, Minn., passed away peacefully at Essentia Health Care with his family by his side on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014. He was born Jan. 6, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Frederick and Dorothy (Hurtig) Dresser. Dave graduated from Golden Valley High School in 1971 and from Winona State University with an Associate of Arts degree. He was united in marriage to Anne Evenson on Feb. 10, 1979. Dave worked as Director of Environmental Services and Property Management for Health East and Cerenity Health Care. He was involved with various civic groups and numerous non-profit organizations including the Carlton Lions, Carlton Chamber of Commerce, Carlton County Tourism Association, SonLife Community Church in Wrenshall, Minn., and was former owner of The Village Times newspaper.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife's parents, Clarence "Ike" and Louise Evenson.

He is survived by his wife, Anne; children, Barb (Craig) Ankrum, Debbie (Vern) Bryce and Steve (Sheila) Unzen; seven grandchildren, Summer and Caden Unzen, Travis and Taylor Bryce, and Maita, Karey and Isaak Ankrum; sister, Dawn Dresser; brothers, Doug (Tara) and Duane (Sarah) Dresser; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Jack Gunderson; a special aunt, Bea Yanda; two nieces, Grace and Greta; four nephews, Corry, Ryan, Troy and Grant; and many extended family members, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 14, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet, followed by refreshments in the fellowship room.
