County commissioner announces he won't run for re-election
District 4 County Commissioner Bob Olean announced this week he will not file for re-election this November. Olean first took office as a political newcomer in 2010, replacing long-time commissioner Gordon Aanerud, who stepped down from the post after 19 years. Olean had to run for election once again in 2012 after the county decided to redistrict, and he was successful in retaining his post.
During his time as county commissioner, Olean served as both board chair and vice chair, as well as chairing the Committee of the Whole.
Olean, who plans to serve out the remainder of his term for the next seven months, said he truly enjoyed his time of service, but added, “It’s time to travel!” His wife, Sandy, retired early from her job with Wells Fargo, and Bob said the two of them are anxious to jump on their motorcycle and see more of the country.
Filing for this year’s election opens Tuesday, May 20, and runs through Tuesday, June 3.
