Cloquet mayor receives Excellence in Service Award from CGMC
Cloquet Mayor Bruce Ahlgren was recognized by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) July 26 during the Coalition's three-day summer conference in Owatonna for his excellence in service to Greater Minnesota.
The Excellence in Service Award is given annually to a city leader who demonstrates knowledge, leadership and active participation in CGMC program areas over the past year.
As first vice-president of the CGMC, Mayor Ahlgren lobbied legislative leaders and committee chairs on behalf of the Coalition's legislative program. He was also one of the 15 mayors selected to serve on the Governor's Tax Reform Advisory Group for Local Government Aid.
"Mayor Ahlgren is a highly-respected and knowledgeable mayor. The successes he has had in his own community make him a tremendous advocate for tax and economic development policies that will help Greater Minnesota grow stronger," said CGMC President Alan Oberloh, mayor of Worthington. "In addition to his legislative efforts, Mayor Ahlgren is a great promoter of the CGMC and has been extremely successful in recruiting communities to join our organization."
CGMC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization representing 80 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Coalition educates legislators about issues important to Greater Minnesota.
