City plows hit the streets

The Cloquet Police Department sent out a reminder this afternoon to residents: City snowplows will be back out at 4am. Cars MUST be off the streets or they will be ticketed and/or towed.

With snow accumulations expected to total 3-5 inches for today and more overnight, plows will hit the streets hard at 4 a.m.

City Street Supervisor Les Peterson said city plows normally hit the streets by 4:15 a.m., tackling the major thoroughfares -- plus the areas surrounding the schools and Pine Tree Plaza -- before plowing five different residential routes through the city.

If there are fewer than three inches of snow, Peterson said the city doesn't plow, instead it sends out sanding trucks.
