CEC boys find a place to compete

The Cloquet Boys Tennis Team have (again) traded in their racquets and become rather proficient with their shovels as they spent last Saturday digging out once again after the recent snowfall. Don't look now, but there's a Cloquet-Esko-Carlton spring sport that actually played a competitive match.

The boys tennis team had to get creative to get on the court -- it played indoors April 9 in Virginia against Eveleth-Gilbert, and fell in a 4-3 decision.

CEC singles winners were Christian Pritchett at third singles, who defeated Derek Bose 6-3, 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, and Joey Gotchnik at fourth singles, who defeated Jake O'Bey 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles, the first team of Robbie Sobczak and Ryan Willgohs defeated Miles Everson and Matt Erchul 6-3, 6-4.

Other CEC varsity players were Sean Kedrowski and Ryan Lind at first and second singles, and doubles teams of Ben and Nick Tomhave and Tom Matuzak and Luke Tomhave.
