Carlton County Farmers' Market News
By Roberta Follett and Elise Rieschl
This week The Carlton County Farmers’ Market will participate in the Fourth of July activities by opening at 9 a.m. and staying open through the parade. Stop by and say hello! We will also be open on Saturday morning, during our regularly scheduled hours, 9-11 a.m.
Mother Nature is bringing some nice growing weather. Produce is popping up in the garden and at the market. This week look for lettuce, greens, radishes, green onions, shitake mushrooms, herbs and garlic scapes, as well as eggs and fryer chickens. A limited supply of garden plants and herbs are still available to fill out that empty niche in your garden or on your deck. Our bakers are busy providing delicious breads and sweet treats. Top off your food purchases with tasty homemade jams and jellies for your fresh bread (or think BBQ!) and pick up sweet pickle relish for your brats and hotdogs. Yum!
Carlton County Farmers’ Market accepts EBT cards for food purchases. Stop by the information booth to find out about “Market Bucks,” a program sponsored by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. While you’re there, sign up for our monthly drawing.
This week’s featured recipe is Garlic Scape-Cream Cheese Spread. Include it with crackers on your finger food buffet.

See you at the market!
