Arlene Genevieve (Anderson) Atkinson
Arlene Genevieve (Anderson) Atkinson, 83, of White Bear Lake, Minn., beloved wife of 57 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014. Arlene grew up in Scanlon, Minn., and graduated from Cloquet High School. She raised five children with her husband, Bob, in White Bear Lake. Arlene liked to golf, dance, listen to music, and attend the theater. Summers involved outings to Cutfoot Sioux Lake, Mille Lacs, Lake of the Woods, and Sand Lake. She proudly honored her Norwegian heritage. Travel highlights were Norway, New York for theater, Hawaii, and several winters in Texas. Arlene will be missed and remembered for her sense of humor, kindness, generosity, and her deep love of friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gladys Anderson of Cloquet; sons Glen and Mark; and sister Carol Johnson.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Bob; sons Mike (Ingrid Friel) of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Andy (Shelly) of Mahtomedi, Minn.; daughter, Kim (Dave) Neeser of Wyoming, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Jerry (Patricia) Anderson and Dennis (Karen) Anderson; and sister Rae (Lyn) Johnson.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at First Presbyterian Church of White Bear Lake, 4821 Bloom Ave.
Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
