Wright-Cromwell News: Sept. 28 2017
I hope most of you saw the Sept. 22 article in the Duluth News Tribune about Jaden Gronner and his ability to play football with the help of a cochlear implant. Jaden has been legally deaf since 13 months when he had a brush with scarlet fever. It is truly an inspiration to read about young folks who overcome obstacles in life and make the best of the talent they have.
Scott Thudin has a home in Naples, Fla., and he reports on the damage they sustained in the recent hurricane: "God blessed us with minimum damage. We had some roof damage, pool screens and some trees down. Everything in the house seems OK. The area around us has lots of trees down. Everyone is pushing the debris on the curbs for pick up. It'll be months of clean up. Thanks, Scott"
A few folks from the Cromwell Area joined the County Extension on a trip to Mont du Lac Trophy Lodge in Mont du Lac, Wis., on Sept. 18. The Trophy Lodge, one of the grandest log structures in North America, is perched high on top of Mont du Lac's ski hill. It is constructed of hand-selected western red cedar from the coasts of Washington state and British Columbia with structural douglas fir and massive stones from Montana. There were stunning views of the St. Louis River corridor and Jay Cooke State Park from the top of the mountain. You really should go online and have a look at this place. I didn't even know it was in our area and Cromwell's own Bill Zelazny was one of the folks who made this possible.
