Carlton’s Oscar Evald Nicholson was 30 years old when he was killed in action in France during World War I. Nicholson enlisted in the Marines and was a member of the Sixty-sixth company, fifth regiment and died in the Battle of Soissons on July 18, 1918. His funeral took place May 22, 1921.
